Step-by-Step Hajj Rituals
An immersive guide to the 5 days of Hajj.
Day 1: Yawm al-Tarwiyah
MinaThe Day of Quenching Thirst. Pilgrims don the Ihram garments and declare their intention (Niyyah). They travel from Mecca to Mina, a tent city, spending the day and night in prayer and reflection, spiritually preparing for the days ahead.
Day 2: Day of Arafah
ArafahThe Pinnacle of Hajj. This is the most critical day. Pilgrims travel to the plains of Mount Arafat. From noon until sunset, they stand (Wuquf) in supplication, seeking Allah’s forgiveness. At sunset, they move to Muzdalifah to collect pebbles and sleep under the stars.
Day 3: Yawm al-Nahr
Jamarat & MeccaEid al-Adha. The busiest day. Pilgrims return to Mina to stone the largest pillar (Jamarat al-Aqaba). Following this, the animal sacrifice (Qurbani) is performed, hair is shaved or trimmed (Halq/Taqsir), and pilgrims proceed to the Kaaba for Tawaf al-Ifadah.
Day 4-5: Days of Tashreeq
MinaStoning the Devil. Pilgrims remain in Mina for two or three days. Each afternoon, they stone all three pillars (Small, Medium, and Large) with seven pebbles each. This act symbolizes the rejection of evil. The pilgrimage concludes with the Farewell Tawaf (Tawaf al-Wada).
