Newton's second law states that force is proportional to what is required for an object of constant mass to change its velocity. This is equal to that object's mass multiplied by its acceleration.

The formula for force is:

F = m × a

Where:

  • F is the force in Newtons (N)
  • m is the mass in kilograms (kg)
  • a is the acceleration in meters per second squared (m/s²)
