Vertical Curve Calculator
Calculate elevations, gradients, and key points for vertical curves in road design
Input Parameters
Units:
Metric (m)
Formula Explanation
The vertical curve is calculated using the parabolic curve formula:
Elevation = PVC Elevation + G₁·x + [(G₂ - G₁)/(2·L)]·x²
Where:
- PVC Elevation = PVI Elevation - G₁·(L/2)
- x = distance from PVC
- G₁ = initial grade (%)
- G₂ = final grade (%)
- L = curve length
