| Efficiency Factor |
This calculator determines the maximum number of parking spaces that can fit in a given lot based on the dimensions and configuration parameters.
Calculation Method
The calculator uses the following steps:
- Calculate the total area of the parking lot: Length × Width
- Apply the efficiency factor to determine usable area: Total Area × (Efficiency / 100)
- Calculate the area required per parking space based on the parking angle and aisle width
- Divide the usable area by the area per space to determine the maximum number of spaces
Parking Angle Considerations
Different parking angles affect the space utilization:
- 90° (Perpendicular): Most efficient use of space but requires wider aisles
- 60°-45° (Angled): Good balance between space efficiency and maneuverability
- 30° (Angled): Less efficient but easier for drivers to park
- 0° (Parallel): Least efficient but useful for narrow spaces
Efficiency Factor
The efficiency factor accounts for areas that cannot be used for parking, such as:
- Driveways and circulation paths
- Landscaping and green spaces
- Building setbacks and buffer zones
- Handicap parking and special zones
Typical efficiency factors range from 75% to 90% depending on the parking lot design and local regulations.
